About Christian Cooke
Our lad from Leeds is the real Yorkshire brew. Following his film debut in the lead role in Cemetery Junction, written/directed by Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant, Christian went on to star in the critically acclaimed, BAFTA nominated miniseries The Promise, directed by Peter Kosminsky. He played lead opposite legendary Dennis Quaid and Kate Bosworth in Sony's series The Art of More, and his role in Nat Geo's Barkskins felt important. Christian is emerging as one of Hollywood's most engaging and sought after talents : This Cookie Monster is not baked to crumble.

Christian Cooke stars as Rene Sel, an immigrant to New France, in National Geographic Channel's limited series Barkskins.
The series takes us to 17th Century New France in a story with a nod to every genre, from mystery to romance. The series is set in Wobik, a small settlement in what is now the Canadian province of Quebec.
Created by Elwood Reidand based on the epic Annie Proulx novel, the first season of the Nat Geo drama focuses on the colonization of North America by the French in 1693, as indentured servants are brought from Europe to help civilize the untamed country.
