About Bertie Carvel

You'll find the words Award and Winner crop up a lot in a Bertie Carvel CV. Yes, he drove you mad as the lying, treacherous husband in the BBC's award-winning (see?) Dr Foster and he scared children something rotten as hateful headmistress Miss Trunchbull in multi award winning (again, sorry) Matilda the Musical. As Rupert Murdoch in the huge hit INK, he didn’t so much move as uncoil. He was Nick Clegg and Dr Jonathan Strange and is one of our most self-disguising of actors. More recently, his roles in Channel 4's Baghdad Central & ITV's The Sister (so creepy!) do not disappoint. As well as starring as the protagonist in P.D. James’ Inspector Dalgliesh Mysteries tales, he followed this with his acclaimed performance as Donald Trump in The 47th at The Old Vic Theatre, there are no known limits to Bertie.
